Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, Prime Minister of Iraq and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has instructed security agencies to take the strictest legal measures against individuals involved in attacks targeting vital institutions, foreign diplomatic missions, and the abduction of foreign nationals, according to an official statement.

The directive was issued during al-Sudani’s visit to the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency at the Ministry of Interior of Iraq, where he chaired a high-level security meeting. The meeting was attended by the interior minister, the head of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, the deputy interior minister for intelligence and federal investigations affairs, and other senior security officials.

During the session, al-Sudani received a detailed briefing on the agency’s current operations and its efforts to address ongoing security challenges. Discussions focused particularly on incidents involving attacks on key state institutions, foreign diplomatic missions, and the kidnapping of foreign citizens.

The prime minister stressed the importance of pursuing perpetrators of what he described as “hostile acts” that damage Iraq’s international reputation and threaten the interests of its citizens. He emphasized that security forces must intensify their efforts to maintain internal stability and ensure the protection of critical institutions.

Al-Sudani also underscored that there would be “no red lines” in enforcing the law, regardless of the individuals or groups involved, and warned that no leniency would be shown toward those responsible for such acts.

In addition, he called for heightened readiness, continuous monitoring, and sustained intelligence operations to safeguard recent security gains and prevent emerging threats.
