President of the Kurdistan Region Congratulates Chaldeans, Assyrians, and Syriacs on Akitu New Year

The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Chaldean, Assyrian, and Syriac communities on the occasion of the Babylonian-Assyrian New Year 6776 and the Akitu festivities.

In a message marking the occasion of Akitu, the President of the Kurdistan Region wished those celebrating in Kurdistan, Iraq, and across the world a joyful and peaceful holiday.

He noted that the Akitu celebration reflects the rich historical and cultural heritage of one of the region’s ancient and indigenous communities. The President of the Kurdistan Region emphasized that the occasion also serves as a reminder of the Kurdistan Region’s continued commitment to equality, rights, and freedoms for all communities.

He reaffirmed that the Kurdistan Region will remain a land of diversity and a center for peaceful coexistence and tolerance among different religious and ethnic groups.

The President of the Kurdistan Region also acknowledged that this year’s celebrations will not take place due to the ongoing conflict in the region. Despite the circumstances, he expressed hope that the holiday will bring peace, comfort, and a renewed sense of unity and shared life among all communities.
