Wednesday 1 April Declared Official Holiday in the Kurdistan Region
Wednesday 1 April 2026 has been declared an official holiday across all government institutions in the Kurdistan Region, in accordance with the official government calendar. The holiday is observed in celebration of the Assyrian-Babylonian / Chaldean-Babylonian New Year (Akitu).
Essential services will continue to operate on a duty basis throughout the holiday.
Normal working hours will resume on Thursday 2 April 2026.
