Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and former President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, extended his congratulations to the Kurdish people and other nations celebrating Nowruz on the occasion of the Kurdish New Year 2726.

In a message issued on March 20, 2026, Barzani congratulated the families of martyrs, the Peshmerga forces, and all Kurds in Kurdistan and abroad. He described the festival as a powerful symbol of victory over injustice and hardship, noting that this meaning has become deeply rooted in the history of the Kurdish people as a rich cultural value reflecting perseverance and the continuous struggle for freedom and peace.

The Kurdish leader noted that this year’s Nowruz comes at a time of significant changes, complexities, and tensions across the region and the world. In light of these challenges, he stressed that the current sensitive and historic circumstances require stronger coordination and cooperation among political forces in Kurdistan to protect national interests and strengthen security and stability.

Barzani expressed hope that this year’s Nowruz would mark the beginning of greater unity and brotherhood among political parties. He also wished for the people of Kurdistan to celebrate Nowruz and other holidays in happiness and prosperity.

Concluding his message, Barzani expressed his hope that the peoples of the region would live in peace and tranquility, far from wars, tensions, and instability.

“Happy Nowruz, and may you always live in goodness and happiness,” Barzani said in his closing remarks.
