Presidency of the Kurdistan Region Condemns Attack on UAE Consulate in Erbil After Two Guards Injured
The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region strongly condemned an attack targeting the United Arab Emirates Consulate General in Erbil on Saturday, which left two security guards injured and caused material damage to the consulate building.
In an official statement, the presidency expressed deep concern over the incident and wished the injured guards a swift and full recovery.
The presidency also stressed that the Government of Iraq bears responsibility for ensuring the protection of diplomatic missions operating within the country. It called on the Iraqi authorities to take immediate measures to prevent similar attacks in the future.
Furthermore, the statement urged Iraqi security institutions to investigate the incident, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice in order to protect the country’s stability and safeguard diplomatic relations.
Officials emphasized that attacks on diplomatic missions threaten both national security and Iraq’s international interests.
The incident occurred in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, which hosts numerous foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations.
