KRG Begins Digital Payment of February Salaries for Over 720,000 Beneficiaries

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Finance and Economy has announced that more than 720,000 civil servants, pensioners, security personnel, and families of martyrs will receive their February salaries digitally through the government’s financial inclusion initiative, MyAccount.

According to the ministry, a total of 722,106 beneficiaries across the Kurdistan Region will be paid through the digital system. The distribution includes 353,331 beneficiaries in Erbil, 185,542 in Sulaymaniyah, 175,262 in Duhok, and 7,971 in Halabja.

Officials say the move is part of a broader effort to modernize public financial management and expand banking access across the region. So far, more than 900,000 public sector beneficiaries have registered bank accounts under the MyAccount program.

To support the initiative, nearly 572 ATMs have been installed throughout the Kurdistan Region, providing citizens with 24-hour access to cash and banking services.

The MyAccount program was first announced in 2023 by the Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, as part of the reform agenda of the ninth cabinet aimed at modernizing banking services and promoting financial inclusion across the region.
