Iran Targets PAK Bases in Kurdistan Region with Drone Strikes

The Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK), an Iranian Kurdish opposition group, said on Monday that two of its military bases in the Kurdistan Region were targeted by Iranian drone attacks.

In a statement, PAK reported that “another base of the Kurdistan National Army in Prde [Altun Kupri] came under a drone attack.” Prde, also known as Altun Kupri, lies along the Erbil-Kirkuk border.

The party added that in recent days its bases and headquarters have been repeatedly struck. “The occupying enemy has repeatedly targeted the bases and headquarters of the Kurdistan National Army with drone strikes,” the statement read. Despite the attacks, PAK said the strikes would not weaken its forces. “The enemy’s missile and drone attacks will not weaken our resolve, and the will and faith of the Peshmerga of the Kurdistan National Army are stronger than Iran’s missiles and drones,” it said, referring to its armed wing.

Earlier in the day, PAK announced in a separate statement that another base near Erbil’s Gomaspan area had also been targeted.

PAK positions in the Kurdistan Region have been attacked multiple times since the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran on Saturday. Tensions across the region have escalated amid the widening conflict.

Late last month, PAK and several other Iranian Kurdish opposition parties announced the formation of a new alliance, aimed at strengthening coordination among groups opposed to Tehran.
