President Masoud Barzani received Mr. Sam Darmo, President of the U.S.-based organization Assyrians for Justice, on Monday in Pirmam.

During the meeting, Mr. Darmo praised President Barzani’s role and his continued support for religious and ethnic components. He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation for President Barzani’s sponsorship of the Assyrian Martyrs Memorial, whose foundation stone was laid the previous day, describing the project as historic.

For his part, President Barzani reaffirmed his support for the Assyrian people and all other components, noting that since the era of Sheikh Abdul Salam Barzani and Sheikh Ahmed Barzani, there has been a longstanding commitment to upholding equality, justice, and the protection of the rights of all nationalities and religions in Kurdistan.

The meeting also included discussions on political developments in Iraq and the region, and the broader changes and transformations taking place.
