President Masoud Barzani on Wednesday received the newly appointed Polish Consul General to Erbil, Mr. Maciej Zaydel, in Pirmam, where the two sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations and regional developments.

The Polish diplomat expressed Warsaw’s readiness to enhance cooperation with the Kurdistan Region across various sectors, commending the Region’s progress in security, stability, reconstruction, and public welfare. He also praised the leadership role of President Barzani and the Kurdistan Regional Government, highlighting the resilience of the Kurdish people in overcoming past hardships.

President Barzani congratulated the Consul General on assuming his post and reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to expanding ties with Poland. He further reflected on Poland’s historical struggles, noting that unity and perseverance enabled the country to emerge as one of Europe’s advanced nations.

Discussions during the meeting also covered the political situation in Iraq and the wider region, the historical struggle of the Kurdish people, and the natural beauty and cultural landmarks of the Kurdistan Region.
