Erbil Recognized as a Top Destination for 2026 by Travel Industry Authority

The Kurdistan Regional Government has announced that the city of Erbil has been selected as a leading Asian destination to visit in 2026 by a travel industry organization.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani marked the occasion with a public statement. In his remarks, he described the recognition as "a tribute to our people, their warmth, and the stories of thousands of years of history." He also stated that "Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, continues to inspire the world."

Erbil is one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities. Its central landmark, the Erbil Citadel, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with evidence of settlement dating back thousands of years. The city is also known for its traditional Qaysari Bazaar and modern developments.

Official sources indicate that this recognition is expected to be used to promote tourism and cultural exchange in the region. The Kurdistan Tourism Board and other relevant agencies are expected to release further details regarding the specific award and their plans for 2026.
