PM Barzani Casts Vote in Iraqi Parliamentary Elections, Urges Free and Fair Process

Masrour Barzani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, cast his ballot in the Iraqi parliamentary elections on Tuesday morning at a polling station in Erbil.

Speaking to reporters after voting, Prime Minister Barzani described the day as a “day of decision for the people,” expressing his hope that citizens would participate peacefully and freely according to their own will.

“I hope our people can vote in a calm and free environment, and that they elect patriotic and sincere representatives to the Iraqi Parliament who will defend their constitutional and national rights,” Barzani stated.

He emphasized the significant weight of the elections for Iraq's future, urging voters to act independently. “Undoubtedly, this is an important election. I hope that everyone makes their choice freely, without any form of coercion, because the people’s decision today will determine the course and shape of governance for the next four years,” he added.

The Prime Minister also called upon the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) to ensure integrity and transparency throughout the electoral process. “I hope the Commission handles the ballots responsibly and faithfully until the very end of the process,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, PM Barzani extended wishes for success to all parties and candidates and issued a broad call for citizen participation across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

“I wish success to all parties and candidates, and I hope that every citizen goes out today and casts their vote,” he stated, encouraging the public to take part in shaping the country's democratic future.
