Kurdistan Region Boosts Agricultural Exports, Sends 6,000 Tons of Potatoes to UAE
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – In a significant move to support local farmers and increase domestic production, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is facilitating the export of 6,000 tons of locally grown potatoes to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this year.
This initiative is part of a broader government strategy to find international markets for Kurdistan's agricultural products and provide robust support to the region's farming sector.
Renowned for its rich and fertile soil, the Kurdistan Region yields a diverse range of agricultural products annually. Potatoes stand out as a key local crop, with an annual production of approximately 600,000 tons. The high quality of the region's potatoes has generated substantial demand, attracting significant interest from global brands in the food industry.
The Ninth Cabinet of the KRG has consistently emphasized the importance of local products, focusing on market expansion to further advance and develop the agricultural sector.
A government spokesperson stated that these efforts are central to the cabinet's policy of serving the farmers of the Kurdistan Region and ensuring the continued growth of this vital economic sector.
