In a move to boost tourism and preserve the region’s cultural and historical landmarks, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani officially reopened the "Stone Hotel" in Sarsink, Amedi district, Duhok province, on Wednesday.

The reopening follows a comprehensive renovation and modernization project that restored the hotel’s original charm while equipping it with updated facilities to meet modern hospitality standards.

During the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Barzani toured the hotel’s newly refurbished sections and reviewed the completed maintenance and development works. He emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to revitalizing key tourism sites and improving infrastructure to attract both local and international visitors.

Built in 1946 and first opened in 1951, the Stone Hotel stands as one of the region’s most iconic landmarks. The facility spans 15,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 150 guests. With its historical significance and renewed appeal, the hotel is expected to play a vital role in enhancing tourism and economic activity in the Sarsink area.
