Former US President Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Detroit-area entrepreneur Mark Savaya as the Special Envoy to Iraq, a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Washington and Baghdad.

The announcement was made by Trump on his Truth Social platform, where he praised Savaya for his “deep understanding of the Iraq-US relationship” and his regional connections, which are expected to advance American interests in the Middle Eastern nation.

Savaya, a Chaldean American of Iraqi descent, is a prominent figure in Michigan's business and political circles.
