Kurdistan Region Launches Anti-Corruption Hotline to Empower Citizens
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – In a significant move to enhance government transparency and combat graft, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has launched a dedicated public hotline for citizens to directly report corruption.
The initiative was announced by Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw during a press conference on Tuesday. The hotline, number 1015, is operated by the Region’s Commission of Integrity and is designed to empower the public to hold government institutions accountable.
"A new service has been activated for everyone," Governor Khoshnaw stated, detailing the initiative. "From now on, if you see any corruption, contact this number: 1015."
He explained that the direct line will allow citizens to submit complaints, suggestions, comments, and report any issue related to corruption or the obstruction of their affairs by public officials.
To ensure widespread public access, informational signs advertising the hotline will be installed in the reception areas of all government departments across the region.
Governor Khoshnaw framed the hotline as a cornerstone of the KRG's broader strategy to strengthen governance and the rule of law. He emphasized the government’s "unwavering support" for the independence of key institutions like the Commission of Integrity, the Public Prosecutor, the Judiciary, and the Parliament, labeling them as essential for the proper administration of public affairs.
The initiative is also directly linked to the core principles of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s administration, which focus on ensuring government departments serve the public effectively and on the rigorous implementation of laws to prevent corruption.
