Traffic Fine Enforcement Expanded in Kurdistan Region to Include All Iraqi Vehicles

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – In a significant update to traffic enforcement policy, the Ministry of Interior has announced that its automated traffic monitoring system will now issue fines to a broader range of vehicles operating within the Kurdistan Region.

According to an official statement released on Thursday, the new measures will specifically target:

Vehicles with license plates from central and southern Iraqi governorates.
Foreign-registered vehicles that violate local traffic regulations.
The expansion means that speed cameras and other automated systems across the region will actively monitor and penalize all vehicles licensed anywhere in Iraq, not just those registered locally.

The ministry's statement emphasized that the primary goal of this measure is public safety. "For your safety and the safety of passengers, it is essential to comply with traffic rules," the bulletin read.

The move standardizes traffic enforcement across the region, ensuring all drivers, regardless of their vehicle's origin, are subject to the same rules and financial penalties for violations like speeding and running red lights.
