President Masoud Barzani received today, Wednesday, the U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires in Iraq, Steven Fagin, at the Salahaddin Resort. The meeting was also attended by Wendi Green, U.S. Consul General in Erbil.

Discussions focused on recent regional developments, relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and the resumption of oil exports. Both sides underscored the importance of supporting American oil companies operating under agreements signed with the Kurdistan Regional Government in line with constitutional and legal frameworks.

The talks also addressed the need to resolve the issues of salaries and financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region, with a shared view that citizens’ livelihoods should not be drawn into political disputes.

In addition, the two sides stressed strengthening bilateral ties between the Kurdistan Region and the United States. The meeting also touched upon Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary elections, the situation in Syria, progress in the reform process within the Ministry of Peshmerga, and ongoing steps toward the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government.
