Kurdistan Regional Government Completes Hundreds of Road Projects to Boost Infrastructure

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – The Ninth Cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving infrastructure and public services, with a major focus on expanding and upgrading road networks across cities, towns, and villages.

In a recent assessment, officials reported that 717 road projects have been successfully completed, while 402 others are currently underway. Additionally, 2,618 kilometers of new roads have been constructed in rural areas alone, significantly improving connectivity.

The KRG has also executed nearly 2,000 urban street development projects, investing more than 6 trillion Iraqi dinars in road and highway infrastructure. These projects have been designed to enhance traffic flow, reducing travel times between key locations.

A spokesperson for the KRG stated that these initiatives align with the government’s dual objectives of safeguarding citizens' lives and strengthening economic infrastructure. "Efficient transportation is vital for public safety and economic growth," the spokesperson added. "The KRG remains dedicated to further expanding and maintaining road networks to serve the people of the Kurdistan Region."

The improvements are expected to facilitate trade, reduce accidents, and provide smoother commutes for residents. The KRG has pledged to continue prioritizing infrastructure development in its ongoing projects.
