PM Masrour Barzani Honors Martyrs of Kurdistan, Vows to Continue Struggle for Freedom
Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) paid tribute to the victims of the Barzani Genocide and all martyrs of Kurdistan in a solemn message on social media.
In a tweet, Barzani stated, "The people of Kurdistan will never forget these atrocities. We must remember, Kurdistan has paid the ultimate sacrifice for its rights and its freedom, and we will never give up." He added, "I salute the martyrs of the Barzani Genocide and all the martyrs of Kurdistan."
The Barzani Genocide refers to the systematic persecution and mass killings of Barzani tribesmen under the former Iraqi Ba'ath regime, particularly in the 1980s, when thousands of Kurdish civilians, including women and children, were executed and buried in mass graves.
The people of Kurdistan will never forget these atrocities.

The Kurdistan Region continues to seek international recognition for past atrocities, including the Anfal campaign, which is widely regarded as genocide by human rights organizations.
