Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met on Monday with a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Reza Rahmani, Governor of West Azerbaijan Province (Urmia), to discuss enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in trade and tourism.

The meeting, attended by Faramarz Asadi, Iran’s Consul General in Erbil, focused on boosting commercial exchanges and facilitating cross-border tourism. Both sides emphasized the need for continued coordination to improve infrastructure and streamline the movement of goods and people between the Kurdistan Region and Iran.

The Iranian delegation expressed appreciation for the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) cooperation in hosting Iranian pilgrims visiting religious sites in Iraq. The talks highlighted the importance of further collaboration in key sectors to strengthen economic and cultural ties.
