Kurdistan Regional Government Cabinet Meeting Addresses Key Issues with Federal Government

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Council of Ministers, led by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, convened today to discuss critical matters related to ongoing negotiations with the Iraqi federal government.

The first major topic of discussion was the recent developments in implementing the joint agreement between the KRG and the federal government. The agreement, previously approved by both cabinets, addresses long-standing disputes over public sector salary payments and financial entitlements for the Kurdistan Region. Additionally, the meeting reviewed progress on oil and non-oil revenue-sharing discussions, a key point of contention between Erbil and Baghdad.

The second key agenda item focused on finalizing a mechanism to regulate the operations of the Kurdistan Region’s Metrology and Quality Control Authority. This follows a recent agreement between the KRG and the federal government to streamline standardization processes and ensure compliance with national and international regulations.

The KRG cabinet emphasized the importance of resolving these issues through continued dialogue with Baghdad to ensure stability and cooperation. Further updates are expected following additional negotiations.
