Hawari Shar–Peshraw Tunnel Two-Way Road Completed in Slemani
The two-way road through the Hawari Shar–Peshraw Tunnel in Slemani has been completed at a cost of IQD 4 billion. The road is 1,500 metres long and 30 metres wide.
Completed within a year, the project connects the Peshraw Tunnel to Hawari Shar, significantly improving access for residents of Slemani, Chawarta, Sitak, Siwayl, Zalan, and approximately forty surrounding villages.
The road opened to traffic on 22 July 2025 and is expected to ease congestion and facilitate tourism.
