Erbil, Kurdistan Region – A high-level delegation from the Iraqi federal government is set to arrive in Erbil on Thursday night for critical talks with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) regarding public sector salaries, oil exports, and budget allocations.

The visit, confirmed by Ali Hussein, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)’s Organizational Bureau in Sulaimani and Halabja, aims to address long-standing financial and oil-related disputes between Baghdad and Erbil. The delegation includes officials from the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Oil, and the State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO).

The talks come after KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani reiterated the region’s commitment to safeguarding its constitutional rights during a press conference on Wednesday.

“We will not give up any of our constitutional rights,” Barzani stated. “Not a day has passed without us working to solve this crisis.”

He revealed that he had held direct discussions with Iraq’s Judicial Council chief and the federal prime minister, who expressed willingness to resolve the financial deadlock. “They were very positive and agreed to send a delegation soon,” Barzani added.
