Demonstrators in Baghdad Protest Israeli Attacks on Iran

Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Baghdad on Friday to protest against Israel’s large-scale military strikes on Iran, which targeted multiple sites, including nuclear facilities, and resulted in significant damage and civilian casualties.

The protests, organized by Iraqi political and activist groups, saw crowds gathering in central Baghdad, waving Palestinian and Iranian flags and chanting slogans condemning Israel and calling for regional solidarity. "Down with Israel!" and "Stop the aggression on Iran!" echoed through the streets as protesters demanded an end to the attacks.

The Israeli strikes, carried out earlier on Friday, marked a major escalation in the ongoing tensions between the two nations. Iranian state media reported damage to nuclear facilities and confirmed civilian casualties, though the exact numbers remain unclear.

Iraqi officials have not officially commented on the demonstrations, but the government has previously called for restraint amid rising Middle East tensions. The United Nations and several countries have urged de-escalation, warning of the potential for a broader regional war.
