Israel Threatens to Escalate Strikes on Iran After Airport Explosion

Israel has issued a direct threat to intensify military action against Iran following an explosion at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport, as tensions between the two nations reach a boiling point.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant vowed to "burn Tehran" if Iran continues its attacks. "The regime in Iran is a threat to the world. If they choose to escalate further, they will face consequences they cannot imagine," Gallant warned in a televised statement.

The warning comes after Israel carried out retaliatory strikes inside Iran early Saturday, targeting undisclosed locations. Hours later, an explosion ignited a fire at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, though Iranian authorities have not yet confirmed the cause.

Israeli officials have blamed Iran for a recent barrage of missile and drone attacks, which killed three people in Israel. In response, Israel has signaled it is prepared for a wider conflict.

"We will not hesitate to act decisively against any threat to our security," said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "Iran’s aggression will be met with overwhelming force."

The escalating rhetoric has raised fears of an all-out regional war, with global leaders urging de-escalation. The U.S. and European Union have called for restraint, while Iran has warned of "severe consequences" if Israel continues its strikes.
