Ukraine Reports Record Russian Drone Attack; Poland Scrambles Jets

Ukraine’s military announced early Monday that Russia launched a record number of attack drones overnight in a massive aerial assault targeting energy infrastructure and civilian areas. Meanwhile, Poland scrambled fighter jets in response to the intensified air campaign near its border.

Ukrainian air defenses intercepted dozens of Shahed-type drones, but officials reported damage in several regions, including power outages in the Odesa and Kharkiv oblasts. "This was the largest drone attack in months, with over 60 UAVs deployed," said Air Force spokesperson Yuriy Ihnat.

NATO-member Poland confirmed its aircraft were activated due to "intensive Russian long-range aviation activity" near its airspace. The Polish Armed Forces stated the operation was a precautionary measure, underscoring regional tensions as the war spills closer to NATO borders.

In a retaliatory move, Ukrainian drones targeted a major Russian electronics factory in Bryansk, disrupting production of military components, according to Ukrainian intelligence. Russian officials acknowledged the attack, stating it caused a temporary suspension of operations.
