Kurdistan Region Opens EUmed

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – In a significant step to enhance healthcare services, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has inaugurated the "Hope" Hospital, a specialized facility for cancer treatment and kidney transplants, in Duhok. The hospital, constructed at a cost of 1.075 million dollars, aims to provide advanced medical care to patients in the region.

Built across 4,770 square meters in two phases, the hospital features 107 beds and includes specialized departments such as:

Consultation clinics
Chemotherapy units
Advanced laboratories
Radiology and imaging services
Intensive care units (ICU)
Emergency and rapid response sections

The hospital has been equipped with state-of-the-art medical devices and treatment supplies in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Health, and the Cancer Foundation. This collaboration ensures that patients receive high-quality care in line with global standards.

The opening of "Hope" Hospital marks a major advancement in healthcare for the Kurdistan Region, particularly for cancer patients who previously had to seek treatment abroad. The facility is expected to reduce the burden on other hospitals and provide timely, specialized care.

A KRG health official stated, "This hospital reflects the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services and offering hope to patients battling serious illnesses."

The launch of the hospital has been welcomed by local residents and medical professionals, who see it as a crucial step toward strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
