Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Inspects Progress on Derbandi Komspan–Smaquli Road Project
Erbil, Kurdistan Region — Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, conducted a field visit to inspect the ongoing work on the Derbandi Komspan–Smaquli road project, a major infrastructure development aimed at enhancing connectivity between Erbil and Sulaimani provinces.
The Prime Minister commended the efforts of the engineering and technical teams, as well as the labor force of Heman Group, the company responsible for executing the project. He praised the rapid pace of progress and the team’s commitment to professional standards and technical specifications.
"This is a strategic project that will facilitate transportation between two major provinces and contribute to regional development," Barzani stated during the visit.
The dual carriageway, currently under construction in the Komspan area near the Komspan Dam, includes the development of surrounding road networks. The main route of the project extends 22 kilometers in length. According to the project timeline, full completion and opening to traffic is expected by the end of this year.
The Derbandi Komspan–Smaquli road is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve infrastructure and support economic growth across the Kurdistan Region.
