Kurdish Leader Masoud Barzani Discusses Regional Stability, Kurdish Unity, and EU Support in Meeting with EU Envoy
Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), met with Radu Botum, the European Union’s representative to the Kurdistan Region, on Sunday at his headquarters in Pirmam to discuss key regional issues, including stability, Kurdish unity, and EU support for the Region’s development.
According to a statement from Barzani’s office, Botum commended the Kurdistan Region for maintaining stability and fostering economic revival, emphasizing the strong cooperation between the EU office and both formal and informal institutions in the Region.
Botum reiterated the EU’s commitment to supporting the Kurdistan Region’s stability, economic growth, and the well-being of its people. He also conveyed the EU’s perspective on the Region’s political and developmental trajectory.
The discussions also touched on broader regional developments, including the future of Kurds in Syria and ongoing peace efforts in Turkey. Botum acknowledged Barzani’s pivotal role in fostering unity among Kurdish factions in Syria and supporting peace initiatives in Turkey.
The meeting highlighted the EU’s continued interest in deepening its partnership with the Kurdistan Region and backing its political and economic progress. Both sides expressed optimism about future collaboration to enhance stability and prosperity in the area.
