Kurdistan Regional Government Announces Major Increase in Workforce Under Ninth Cabinet
Erbil, Kurdistan Region — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced a significant rise in the number of workers in the region since the formation of its ninth cabinet. According to an official statement released Thursday morning, the total number of workers has increased from approximately 83,000 to 193,768.
The government attributed this growth to the efforts of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, who has prioritized the creation of job opportunities for young people since taking office.
The report highlighted that out of the current total, 165,464 are domestic workers, while 28,300 are foreign workers. The government also confirmed that all of these workers have been enrolled in the region’s social security system.
This surge reflects the ninth cabinet’s ongoing initiatives to address unemployment and strengthen labor protections across the Kurdistan Region.
