Explosive-Laden Drone Attack Injures Two Peshmerga Forces in Duhok
Erbil, Kurdistan Region – An explosive-laden drone struck a Peshmerga military base in the Amedi district of Duhok province on Tuesday, wounding two personnel, a senior security source told Rudaw.
The attack comes just a day after another drone strike injured three Peshmerga members in the same area.
"The drone fell on a Peshmerga military base, injuring two personnel," the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The two wounded soldiers are reported to be in stable condition.
Monday’s incident involved a similar explosive drone attack, which left two Peshmerga fighters injured and a third suffering from psychological distress.
The Amedi district has been a hotspot for clashes between the Turkish military and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), though no group has yet claimed responsibility for the recent drone strikes.
Authorities in the Kurdistan Region have not attributed the attacks to any party, and neither Ankara nor the PKK has commented on the incidents.
The repeated drone strikes have raised concerns over escalating tensions in the region, with Peshmerga forces increasingly facing threats from unmanned aerial attacks.
