Erbil, Kurdistan Region – In a significant step to enhance efficiency and compliance with federal banking regulations, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has ordered the transfer of the "My Account" salary distribution system from the Council of Ministers to the Ministry of Finance and Economy.

The decision, confirmed in an official statement on Sunday by Omed Sabah, Head of the Council of Ministers' Office, mandates the Ministry of Finance to take over the management of the "My Account" (Hajmari Min in Kurdish) initiative. The project, which facilitates direct salary deposits for public sector employees, will now operate under the ministry's oversight to ensure alignment with Iraq’s Federal Central Bank laws.

Launched as part of the KRG’s broader payroll reforms, "My Account" aims to modernize salary distribution, reduce corruption risks, and increase financial transparency. Previously managed by a dedicated team under the Council of Ministers, the shift to the Ministry of Finance is intended to centralize supervision and establish a long-term institutional framework.

The move underscores the KRG’s commitment to fiscal reform and digitization, ensuring the initiative adheres to federal regulations—a critical factor for maintaining cooperation with Iraq’s financial institutions and international banking partners.

With the Ministry of Finance now at the helm, further measures are expected to enhance data security, system reliability, and accessibility for tens of thousands of government employees across the region.
