KRG Showcases Investment Potential at AIM Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has joined over 180 nations at the prestigious Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Congress) 2025, which officially opened on Monday in Abu Dhabi. Under the theme “The New Wave of a Globalized Investment Landscape: Towards a New Balanced World Structure,” the summit brings together global economic leaders, policymakers, and private sector stakeholders to explore new investment opportunities in a rapidly changing world.
Kurdistan’s High-Level Participation
A KRG delegation, led by Dr. Mohammed Shukri, Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment and representative of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, is attending the event for the second consecutive year. The delegation includes officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, as well as prominent Kurdish business leaders and investors.
This year, the KRG has established a dedicated “Kurdistan House” at the summit, symbolizing the region’s growing economic engagement on the global stage.
A Platform for Investment Promotion
Speaking to Kurdistan24, delegation spokesperson Bergasht Akrayi emphasized the importance of Kurdistan’s participation:
“We want to use this platform to encourage Emirati and international investors to consider Kurdistan across various sectors. There are significant opportunities in our region that we want to showcase.”
The KRG delegation has scheduled high-level meetings with heads of state, prime ministers, and ministers of economy and industry from participating nations. “In every meeting, we offer them our full support and invite them to invest in our region,” Akrayi added. “These facilitations cover all sectors—especially tourism, trade, industry, education, and training—to strengthen Kurdistan’s economic foundation.”
Global Economic Realignment & Kurdistan’s Role
The AIM Congress 2025, running from April 7-9, features over 20,000 participants, 60 ministers, 30 mayors, and 1,250 panelists discussing post-pandemic recovery, geopolitical shifts, and technological advancements. The event highlights the need for a more balanced global economy, where emerging markets like Kurdistan can play a pivotal role.
For the KRG, the summit is a crucial opportunity to:
- Attract foreign direct investment (FDI) in energy, agriculture, tourism, and digital technology.
- Highlight legislative reforms and infrastructure developments that improve Kurdistan’s business climate.
- Strengthen economic diplomacy within Iraq and internationally.
Kurdistan’s Strategic Advantages
With its strategic location, natural resources, and growing private sector, the Kurdistan Region aims to position itself as a key trade and investment hub in the Middle East. The KRG’s participation underscores its commitment to diversified economic growth and leveraging regional stability for long-term prosperity.
As global leaders seek new pathways for sustainable investment, Kurdistan’s presence at AIM Congress 2025 reinforces its ambition to be an active player in shaping the future of global economics.
