Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani and Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara held a phone conversation on Tuesday, exchanging warm greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

During the call, PM Al-Sudani extended his congratulations to the Syrian people on the formation of their new government, reaffirming Iraq’s support for Syria’s sovereignty and the choices of its people. He emphasized the need for an inclusive political process involving all Syrian factions to ensure stability, peaceful coexistence, and long-term security in the region.

The Iraqi leader also condemned recent Israeli incursions into Syrian territory, reiterating Baghdad’s firm stance against foreign interference in Syria’s affairs. He underscored Iraq’s commitment to Syria’s territorial integrity and unity while calling for strengthened cooperation between the two nations in combating terrorism, particularly the lingering threat of ISIS.

Additionally, both leaders discussed enhancing economic collaboration, leveraging shared opportunities to foster mutual growth.
