KDP Politburo Emphasizes Unity and Resilience in Newroz Message

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – The Politburo of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has issued a message marking the occasion of Newroz and the Kurdish New Year, calling for unity among Kurdish political forces to address pressing national issues and strengthen the Kurdistan Region’s future.

In its statement, the KDP extended its “warmest congratulations to the resilient Kurdish people, especially the families of the martyrs, the Peshmerga forces, and all patriots celebrating Newroz across the world.” The party highlighted the cultural and historical significance of Newroz, describing it as a symbol of resistance against oppression and a celebration of renewal.

“Newroz represents a rebirth, a triumph of freedom, and the steadfast determination of the Kurdish people to stand against tyranny,” the statement read. It emphasized that the festival remains a powerful emblem of the Kurdish struggle for rights, recognition, and a prosperous future.

A Call for Political Unity

The KDP urged all Kurdish political entities to prioritize national interests over partisan divisions, particularly during what it described as “decisive times.” The statement called for responsible leadership, strengthened national unity, and collaborative efforts to resolve the major challenges facing the Kurdish people.

“We must protect the constitutional status of the Kurdistan Region and our hard-earned achievements through collaboration and solidarity,” the Politburo stated. The party also stressed the importance of forming a stable and inclusive government in the Kurdistan Region to safeguard its progress and address the needs of its people.

Solidarity with Kirkuk and Raperin

In a gesture of solidarity, the KDP extended warm wishes to the people of Kirkuk, acknowledging the city’s historical and cultural significance to the Kurdish nation. The statement also paid tribute to the sacrifices made during the Raperin uprising, a pivotal moment in Kurdish history, and celebrated the liberation of Kirkuk as a symbol of Kurdish resilience.

“On this sacred occasion, we remember the sacrifices made during the Raperin uprising and celebrate the liberation of Kirkuk — the beating heart of Kurdistan,” the statement read.

A Vision for the Future

The KDP concluded its message by reiterating its commitment to promoting Kurdish unity and resilience. It called on all Kurds to draw inspiration from Newroz to overcome challenges and work collectively toward a brighter future for Kurdistan.

“Let Newroz inspire us all to work together, overcome challenges, and ensure a bright and prosperous future for Kurdistan,” the statement said. It ended on a hopeful note, wishing all Kurds joy, peace, and prosperity in the New Year: “Happy Newroz 2725.”

Newroz, celebrated on March 21st, marks the beginning of the Kurdish New Year and is a time of cultural pride, reflection, and renewal for Kurds worldwide. This year’s celebrations come amid ongoing political and economic challenges in the Kurdistan Region, underscoring the KDP’s call for unity and collective action.

As Kurds across the globe gather to celebrate Newroz, the KDP’s message serves as a reminder of the enduring spirit of the Kurdish people and their aspirations for a united and prosperous future.
