Spanish-Kurdish Race Car Driver Isaac Tutumlu Retires from 24 Hours of Spa
Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium (July 4, 2023) - Spanish-Kurdish race car driver Isaac Tutumlu was forced to retire from the 24 Hours of Spa, the third round of the 2023 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup Season.
Tutumlu, competing in the Pro-Am Cup class, was driving a Ferrari 296 GT3 in the colors of the Kurdistan Racing Team. The team had a promising start to the race, with Tutumlu setting an impressive lap time during the qualifying session. However, unfortunate incidents during the race, including a collision involving his teammate, forced them to retire from the competition.
Despite the setback, Tutumlu remains optimistic and looks forward to the upcoming 3 Hours of Nürburgring event. The race will be held on July 9-10, 2023.
As a race car driver of Kurdish descent, Tutumlu takes pride in representing the Kurdish flag in the world of motorsport. His passion for speed and competition stems from his multicultural background, combining Catalan and Kurdish heritage.
"I am disappointed that we had to retire from the 24 Hours of Spa," Tutumlu said. "We had a good start to the race and were running well. However, unfortunately, we were involved in a collision that caused too much damage to our car. We will learn from this experience and come back stronger for the next race."
Tutumlu is a talented race car driver with a bright future ahead of him. He is a role model for young Kurdish people who dream of pursuing a career in motorsport. He is also an inspiration to anyone who has ever faced adversity and never gave up on their dreams.
