Kurdish Leader Masoud Barzani Hosts International Conference to Shed Light on Genocide of Fayli Kurds

In a move to shed light on the genocide of the Kurdish Fayli people, an international scientific conference will be held next month under the patronage of Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani.

Ali Fayli, the head of Fayli Kurdish affairs at Barzani's headquarters, announced the conference on Wednesday, saying, "Under the patronage of President Barzani, an international scientific conference will be held to define the genocide of the Kurdish people - the Fayli Kurds file."

He added that "the conference will start on the second of next month and will last for three days. Researchers from most universities around the world will attend the conference, which will be held under the supervision of Barzani's headquarters, and will be organized by the Salahaddin, Duhok, and Soran universities."

The conference's aim is to shed light on the crimes committed against the Fayli Kurds, which have not been scientifically recognized by the international community. These crimes were committed against the Fayli people in 1980, when around 600,000 Faylis were brutally deported from Iraq to Iran without any guilt, and their properties were seized. Moreover, 22,000 of their youth are still missing, indicating that an extremely heinous crime was committed against them.

"We want to shed light on this issue, which has been our demand as Fayli Kurds from President Barzani," Fayli explained.

He further noted that "so far, the victims of the Fayli Kurds have not been compensated by the Iraqi government."
