President Masoud Barzani: There is a big difference between Afghanistan and Kurdistan

President Masoud Barzani, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the former president of the Kurdistan Region, sent a message on Sunday, urging the people of Kurdistan to believe in themselves and the Peshmerga forces, as there are many differences between the Kurdistan Region and Afghanistan.

"In the days since the events in Afghanistan, there has been a political and media outcry aimed at creating anxiety and frustration among the people of Kurdistan to make a comparison between the Kurdistan Region and Afghanistan. Here it is necessary for all parties to be well aware that every nation, if it does not rely on itself and its capabilities, is always in danger of threat and extinction. People's support is also valuable at the time and will have an impact on our own being and will," Barzani said in his message.

"There is a big difference between Afghanistan and Kurdistan. There are also many differences between the Peshmerga and the Afghan army. The Peshmerga are the offspring of the history, blood and tears of the people of Kurdistan. They have had hundreds of historical and heroic stories. Examples include the story of "Kore" and the destruction of the Daesh legends and the stories of "Pirde and Sehilan," which the enemies of Kurdistan planned to break the will of the people of Kurdistan. But the peshmergas and the people of Kurdistan, with their resilience and steely will, foiled the plans of their enemies," Barzani added.

"Here I want to reassure the people of Kurdistan that the situation in Kurdistan is very different from anywhere else. Thank God we have a heroic and powerful peshmerga and most importantly we are a nation of willpower and justice. If the enemies and dissidents had imagined that they would harm the people of Kurdistan, it would never have been easy for them, and certainly not in the future. Anyone who wants to spread despair and self-loathing and unjust comparisons among the people seems to have not yet been able to understand the will and resilience of his people," president Barzani concluded.
