Iraq confirms telections will be held on October 10

The Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq (IHEC) confirmed on Sunday, that the tenth of next October is an inevitable date for holding the elections.

"The commission seeks to adhere to the timelines specified in the operational schedule to hold the elections on their scheduled date," Commission spokeswoman Jumana al-Ghalay said in a press statement.

"Next October 10th is an inevitable date for general voting, so we have started the process of printing ballot papers for both public and private votes, and it is currently in the final stage of completion," She added.

On Saturday, Iraqi President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi confirmed that the elections would be held on the scheduled date, on the tenth of next October.

Doubts revolve in Iraq about the possibility of not holding the elections on the date set by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, after they were postponed once from last June to next October.
