On the occasion of the inclusion of the Hawraman region on the World Heritage List, President Masoud Barzani sent a congratulatory message on Tuesday to the people of Kurdistan and the residents of the Horman region.

"I was very pleased with the recent decision of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to include the Hawraman region, located in eastern Kurdistan, on its list of important human heritage," Barzani said in a statement.

Barzani added that "Hawraman is an outstanding region of Kurdistant, and throughout history it has had an important cultural, literary, political and revolutionary role, and provided a lot to the Kurdish liberation movement."

Barzani concluded by saying, "This UNESCO decision is undoubtedly another gain for the people of Kurdistan and the Hawraman region. On this occasion, I congratulate the dear people of Kurdistan and the people of Horman, and wish them more security, stability and progress."

Hawraman is a mountainous region located within the Kurdistan and Kermanshah provinces in western Iran and in the northeastern Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

On Tuesday, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization issued a declaration recognizing the deep history, unique culture and scenic landscapes of the Kurdish region in northwestern Iran.
