Iraqi Foreign Minister: Iraq needs to work with US-led international coalition

On Saturday, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein said that eliminating ISIS requires international work and cooperation, noting that Iraq's relationship with the United States of America is not just military relations, but rather broad relations, according to Alsumaria news channel.

Hussein said in an interview during his meeting with his American counterpart, Antony Blinken in Washington, that they are in Washington for dialogue and discussions with the United States.

He added that the foundations of this dialogue are represented in the basic principles such as joint action, mutual respect and cooperation in various fields - military, security, economic, commercial and energy field.

Hussein added that they were able to defeat and eliminate ISIS with the efforts and work of the Iraqi forces, with the support of the Iraqi people and with the cooperation of the international coalition.

He pointed out that ISIS is still practicing terrorist operations in Iraq, and launched a suicide attack in Sadr City a few days ago, killing dozens of citizens and wounding many. He pointed out that eliminating ISIS terrorists requires international action and cooperation.

He added that they need to cooperate and work with the international coalition led by the United States against ISIS.

In turn, Blinken said the partnership between the United States and Iraq is much broader and deeper than anything else. He emphasized that they go hand in hand in a partnership based on mutual respect and common interests.
