An Iraqi security source reported a new explosion of energy transmission towers east of Mosul, after the Iraqi authorities succeeded, today, Sunday, in thwarting an attempt to blow up energy transmission towers in southern Nineveh Governorate.

The electric power system in Iraq has been subjected to collapses in separate areas during the past two days, due to the explosions that targeted high-energy transmission towers and cut off vital supplies from Iran, according to Iraqi officials.

The Joint Security Operations Command announced the start of procedures and arrangements to limit the targeting of energy towers, using drones, army helicopters, and the air force.

Within about a month, Iraq recorded nearly 34 explosions of power transmission towers located within the northern regions of the country.
