ERBIL — China, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the Czech Republic have asked the Kurdistan Region to open its diplomatic representation office in their countries to boost ties.

Saman Sorani, political advised to the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), told BasNews that they have begun discussions on the matter with the Iraqi foreign ministry.

The KRG has representation offices in 14 countries now; and there are 34 foreign consulate generals, consulates, and embassy offices currently working in the Kurdistan Region.

According to the Iraqi Constitution, the Kurdistan Region is allowed to open its representation offices in the countries which have embassies in Iraq.
