Iraqi FM Expresses Condolences over Killing of Iranian Scientist
Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Hussein held a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, on Sunday, during which he sent condolences over the killing of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.
Fakhrizadeh, who headed Iran’s nuclear weapons project while he was also a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) officer, was assassinated by a group of unidentified gunmen in the capital Tehran on Friday.
"The minister condemned these actions that do not contribute to supporting stability," Ahmed al-Sahaf, a spokesperson for Iraq's Foreign Ministry, said in a brief statement.
