New IS Riot Reported at SDF-controlled Prison
ERBIL - A group of Islamic State (IS) prisoners on Sunday reportedly rioted in a Syria prison controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), about one month after four militants managed to escape the same facility, a war monitor said.

"Syrian Observatory sources have monitored new riot by ISIS prisoners inside Al-Sena’a prison in Ghuwayran neighbourhood in Al-Hasakah city," SOHR said in a statement.

"The new riot coincided with high alertness and widespread deployment by Syria Democratic Forces in the perimeter of the prison, along with Coalition’s aircraft flying over the area."

About 10,000 IS fighters are held in prisons guarded by the US-backed Syrian Kurdish forces, nearly 2,000 of them are those foreigners whose countries refused to repatriate them.

This comes while similar violence earlier in late March led to the escape of four IS insurgents from the same prison. However, they were recaptured a day later.
