KRG to Form Delegation for Talks with Baghdad on Budget Share
"The cabinet also decided to assign KRG Minister of State Khalid Salam Saeed to form a delegation to visit Baghdad to discuss the Kurdistan Region’s share from the Iraqi government’s budget, and to coordinate with the federal government to fight the coronavirus pandemic and tackle the economic crisis," reads a statement by Barzani's office.
While reviewing the latest updates on the anti-coronavirus measures and lockdowns, the "KRG thanked the region’s population for their resilience and commitment to public health guidelines, and decided to extend the existing leave for staff of government institutions until May 2. All travel restrictions remain in place."
It also thanked the Peshmerga fighters for their assistance to the security forces in enforcing the curfew, the statement added.
Concerning the Anfal genocide committed by the former Iraqi Baath regime against the Kurds in the 1980s, the KRG paid tribute to the victims of the genocide and called on Baghdad "to fulfill its moral and constitutional duty" and compensate the victims of this massacre.
It further condemned a recent attack on the Peshmerga forces in the Garmiyan area which resulted in the killing of two Kurdish fighters.
