ERBIL — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Monday quarantined the entire village of Simkhelan near Soran District in Erbil province after detecting three coronavirus cases in the small community.

Head of Soran Directorate of Health, Karwan Jamal, confirmed the report to BasNews and said that a mother and her two children had tested positive for the novel virus in Simkhelan village.

Quarantining the village comes after Kurdistan Region’s health ministry announced 41 new cases of coronavirus earlier the day, warning of a more serious crisis if people do not abide by the government measures.

KRG has so far reported three deaths, 277 confirmed cases, with 87 recoveries.
