Madrid (dpa) - Spain's coronavirus death toll hit another high on Thursday, recording 950 deaths within the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

During the last five days, the country had recorded more than 800 deaths each day, but had never passed the 900 mark.

This brings the national tally up to about 10,000 people who have died from Covid-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus.

At the same time, the number of recovered patients also reached another high, with 4,100 people having been released from hospitals.
