ERBIL — A roadside bomb hit a civilian vehicle driving on a road between Tuz Khurmatu and Amerli in Diyala province, a police source said.

The blast greatly damaged the vehicle and injured the driver, Tuz Khurmatu police chief told BasNews.

“Police has launched an investigation into the incident,” the police chief added, declining to elaborate on the details.

The attack has not yet been claimed by any armed group or organization.

Tuz Khurmatu is a Kurdish town falling in the areas disputed between Kurdistan Region and Iraq. It is currently under the rule of the Baghdad government with huge presence of the pro-Iran Shia militias of Hashd al-Shaabi.
