Border Crossing with Syria Not Closed by KRG: Official
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Shawkat Barbuhari, director of the border crossing, said that the KRG has not ordered the closure of the gate as it was reported by some news outlets.
He explained that the government of Kurdistan has only taken precautionary measures at the border crossings with Iran to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, and that the decision obviously excludes Pishabour border crossing.
Barbouhari revealed that counterparts from the Syrian Kurdistan had informed them that they will close down the border.
“They will likely also shut down the border for trade in the next few days,” he added.
